International School
At WSG we we aim for the children to see themselves as global citizens. Through different parts of the curriculum, the children learn about different cultures around the world and compare their own lives with the lives of people living in different countries.
In 2022, the school was awarded the International Schools Award by the British Council in recognition of the global education work the staff and pupils have been doing.
The British Council told us: 'You have four active international partnerships with schools in India, Uganda, Nepal and France and six of your activities have been collaborative with your international partners. You have not only arranged activities that allowed your pupils to learn about other countries and their cultures, but the pupils also to engage with global issues, such as sustainable living and diversity, which is creditable. The Run Asia activity is a most imaginative activity to combine healthy lifestyle with geography.
During the last few years, we have made links with schools in China, Australia, India, Uganda and Nepal. Through these links, the children gain an understanding of their responsibilities as global citizens.
